Heritage is an Appaloosa stud farm located in Libberton, a small village based between Carnwath and Biggar in the South Lanarkshire area of Scotland.
Heritage stud prides itself on its ability to breed stunning Appaloosa foals with the emphasis on conformation, temperament and colour which is achieved with the help of our three resident Appaloosa stallions. Myself, James London, and my partner Carol, are immensely proud of the horses we produce here and take great delight showing them off.

As a breeder I certainly maintain that Appaloosa’s are the best breed ever, they are a joy to own and live with, and if I can breed a healthy foal, then the attributes of the Appaloosa breed is just the icing on the cake.
When mare owners come to look at the Stallions we have here, they normally want to achieve colour as well as all of the above, I don’t think that makes them wrong, I like it and am proud of it. In the show ring I like to see spots , in the field I like to see spots and so do most of people that come to visit us
I moved from Essex to Lanarkshire in 2002, I would have lived in a caravan to give my horse’s the grass and room I felt they deserve, I was lucky and found a small farm of about 100 acres, not all grass but enough for me to achieve my life’s ambition to reach Stud Book though British breeding from Primary to Stud book without importing from any where else in the world. If you are looking for an appaloosa please don’t be afraid to ring to ask about anything at all, different societies, the great breeders we know, different types of spotted horses that have the coat colours of the appaloosa (which is also great )but may stop what it is that you want the end result to be. Come and have a cup or glass of whatever, we only want to ensure that everybody is happy with the choices made. Even if it means no choice is made here at Heritage, We so often find fabulous people make a decision to buy a gorgeous looking horse only then to find out they can not enter some of the competitions or if they wish to go on to breed themselves they haven’t the proper paperwork to achieve their own dreams. So take a little time, make an educated choice . I am only too happy to show you what we have, the paperwork, coat patterns, the expectations, but most of all the wonderful all-round Appaloosa horses we have here at Heritage Appaloosas. You might be concerned that we are too far away from where you live, but we are roughly half an hour from either Glasgow or Edinburgh airport and could easily pick you up.
